Our child can literally spend an hour trying to find that perfect position in his crib before drifting off to sleep. Sometimes, when he simply can’t settle down, we dads will cuddle up next to him on a couch — but that often results in a tiny foot kicked in our faces or an elbow jabbed in our backs as he turns and twists and turns some more. Ironically, of course, when he does fall asleep, he will usually take the form of a contortionist ostrich — head buried in pillows, legs up, and arms splayed. But hey: if it works for him (and doesn’t cut off his oxygen supply), who are we to judge?
